John Cage/Variation II
Ephraim Wegner: electronics and installation
Annette Rießner: accordion
Harald Kimmig: violin
Audiovisual performance with audience participation, generated from foils, electronic sound producers and instruments

Variations I VIII are a series – of graphical transparent sheet notations by John Cage, whose random or even spontaneous order is determined by the acoustic result of the respective performance. Variation II, made up of eleven transparent foils, was composed in 1961 for any number of players and any sound producing means.
This current performance provides that the audience orders the notations and, in this way, takes an active part in defining the piece. The visual patterns that are formed serve, on one hand, as a guideline for the musicians and are fed, on the other hand, as active parameters into the formation of the digital sound production via electronic processes.
